LIBERAL ARTS STUDIES AT EUREKA COLLEGE
The breadth of a liberal arts education need not stop with the fulfillment of general education requirements, even though a certain degree of competence in a more focused specialization should be an integral component of such an education. The Liberal Arts major is designed for the student who wants to deepen their exposure to and develop a moderate level of proficiency in a number of the liberal arts disciplines. A student may choose four areas of concentration from a list of over a dozen disciplines and, in consultation with a “liberal arts” major advisor, would plan a sequence of course work at both the intermediate and advanced levels in each concentration. This major culminates in a research paper or project (LAS 400) for which the student and his/her advisor pick a topic that will integrate work done in the four areas chosen for concentration.
