I stay current on award-winning poetry, fiction, and drama and include the short list and winners in my syllabi each year. Students love reading and discussing timely topics and relating them to the more classical literature.
I attend the MMLA Conference each year to learn of latest trends and philosophies in teaching literature at the college level.
I’m married to Dr. Scott Hemmenway, and we share our home with Lucy, our Bernese Mountain Dog. We have one daughter and three grandchildren.
We love sailing, working on our old home, and playing music.
I’m in charge of the Weekend Snackpac Program in Eureka through which we provide needy school children with a sack of food each Friday of the school year to eat over the weekend.
