Friday, April 11

5–7pm Golden “E” 50th Anniversary Dinner
Gammon Room, Melick Library

Members of the Class of 1964 will gather with their classmates for this event dedicated to 50 years of memories.

7:30pm The EC Theatre Department presents “Godspell”
Pritchard Theatre

Based on parables in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, this show offers a mix of song genres, including hits like “Day by Day,” which have been re-orchestrated with a contemporary flair by original composer Stephen Schwartz. Reservations should be made directly through the Theatre Box Office by phone or online. Please identify yourself as an alum when you make your reservation. A limited number of seats have been reserved for this production. For seats, you must contact 309-467-6363 / boxoffice@eureka.edu.

Saturday, April 12

7–7:40am Run with Reagan Registration
Alumni Tent, Corner of Burgess Street and Reagan Drive

The Alumni Office presents “Run With Reagan” an exciting and healthy way to kick-off the Saturday morning of Alumni Weekend! Proceeds from this event will go directly to the Ronald W. Reagan Society of Eureka College as well as the Alzheimer’s Association. Cost is $30 and includes race entry, t-shirt, and post-race pancake breakfast. Register online.

7:40am 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begins

8am Run with Reagan 5K race begins

8–9:30am Pancake Breakfast & Race Award Ceremonies
Dickinson Commons on College Avenue

All-you-care-to-eat pancakes and sausage, followed with Reagan Run recognition. Complimentary for race participants, $5.50 per person.

9:30am Campus Walk-about
Walk begins in front of Dickinson Commons

Take a stroll around campus with Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations Mike Murtagh to see and hear about campus improvements and tour our newly renovated Alumni Court.

Shellie Schwanke, Director of Alumni Relations hosts this recap and chat about Eureka College’s alumni trip to Ireland, Rocktober Weekend in Las Vegas and the Arizona Spring Training Weekend in Phoenix along with events being planned for the 2014–15 academic year.

President Arnold shares a welcome and brief update on campus developments.

10:45am Favorite Stories Continue… Treasures Found ‘neath the Elms

Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, returns with more stories from the tapestry of alumni experiences and memories that capture the spirit of Eureka College.

11:30am Lunch with Eureka’s Astronaut-in-Residence, Scott Altman (Captain, USN, Ret.)
Terrill Room, Cerf Center

NASA Space Shuttle Commander Scott “Scooter” Altman, son of Eureka College Alumni Fred ‘58 and Sharon Altman ‘59, will share a talk entitled, “Reaching for the Stars,” centering on growing up in Central Illinois, his experiences with the Navy, and the wonders of flying and working in space. A veteran of four space flights, Altman has logged over 51 days in space. Altman retired from NASA in September 2010 to join Asrc Research and Technology Solutions in Greenbelt, Maryland. $15 for alumni, $7.50 for students, $30 for public. Advance registration required.

2pm Rediscovering Reagan at Eureka

Dr. Junius Rodriguez, Professor of History, offers up some new discoveries about the fall semester of 1928 and the historic student strike in which “Dutch” Reagan, a freshman gave a speech encouraging the strike and resignation of the college president.

3pm Academic Honors Senior Thesis Presentation

Zane Ridings will present on “Learning to Walk Alongside the Least of These: Liberation Hermeneutics and Praxis-Based Missions in Guatemala.”

4pm Provost’s Afternoon Tea

A great time to get refreshed, celebrate accomplishments and get to know more about campus programs and those who benefit from them. All are welcome to attend this afternoon tea celebrating students, faculty, staff, and administration along with the following programs: Academic Honors, Reagan, Sandifer and Ministry Fellows.

Join Chaplain Bruce Fowlkes for a time to remember and honor Eureka College family members who have passed away in the last year.

$25 per person / $40 per couple (Opening Reception). A delicious buffet dinner, alumni awards presentation and the musical stylings of Kevin Hart Jazz will be featured. More jazz, dessert and dancing will follow the formal presentation.
