Steve Kirk '87
The Award for Service exists to recognize dedication of one’s time and effort to the advancement of Eureka College. It is awarded to alumni who have made a significant contribution to the life or mission of the college, including its programs or students.
This year’s recipient is Steve Kirk, who graduated from Eureka College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. While at Eureka he was a member of the Student Senate, the Chorale and Madrigals, and was “Doody” in the College’s performance of Grease. He is a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and received the Delta Sigma Phi Outstanding Alumni Award in 1994.
Steve has been employed by the State of Illinois since graduating in 1987, most recently in the role as Audit Manager
of the consolidated Internal Audit function. He has served on several audit advisory committees and is currently a Board Member on the Springfield Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
He is very active in his church, First United Methodist of Springfield, Illinois, where he is serving his 2nd year as President of the Church Administrative Board. He is also an active member of the church choir and the worship team singers.
Steve has been a member of the Eureka College Alumni Board of Directors since 2005, where he has served as President for two terms and is currently serving as Past President. He also serves on the Finance Committee and Alumni Task Force.

Steve enjoys spending time with his wife Debbie and daughter Cassie. One of his greatest joys has been coaching his daughter Cassie’s basketball team for four years. |
