2010 OUTSTANDING YOUNG ALUMNI RECIPIENTS

Dr. Jami Curley '95

 

Jami Curley is from Mt. Olive, Illinois, and is a member of the Eureka College Class of 1995.


Jami is a Ph.D. social work graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a Tenure Associate Professor at St. Louis University. She is an expert in the use of assets-based policies to fight poverty, and has worked with the seminal Ford Foundation project in the United States. Her international research in Uganda on poverty reduction strategies with orphans and her teaching workshops in Azerbaijan reflect the international scope of her reputation and work as a researcher. Jami is an outstanding teacher and mentor, working with graduate students to implement strategies to bring clean water and development to impoverished areas.


Currently, Jami serves as vice president of an international humanitarian organization, Project Restore (PR), and works on sustainable development projects in developing countries. Her team is focusing on water, health, education and hunger issues in a village in Uganda, Africa. Jami also volunteers locally through her church feeding the homeless and visiting nursing homes.


Jamie has also contributed to Eureka College by encouraging other students to attend Eureka. She has sent her own daughter to Eureka and volunteered to be a mentor to current students.

Kristen Beck Sullivan '96

 

Kristen Beck Sullivan is from Norwalk, Connecticut where she is a partner with Deloitte LLP, one of the largest professional services organizations in the world and one of the “Big Four” auditors, along with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and KPMG.


Deloitte has approximately 170,000 staff at work in 140 countries, delivering audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services through its member firms. Kristen works closely with the deputy CEO, focusing on regulatory and public policy matters for the firm.


Kristen serves her community as a volunteer member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, the American Cancer Society and College Summit, a national non-profit organization that helps high schools raise their college enrollment rates by building a college-going culture.  She was recognized in 2009 as one of 40 leaders under 40 in Fairfield County Connecticut.


Kristen is a third-generation legacy here at Eureka, a family tradition dating back to her grandfather, Reverend Leland Beck, who served as Dean of Students and Chaplain and great grandfather, Lloyd A. Pottenger, Sr. from the early 1900s.


Kristen has also served her alma mater as a past member of the Alumni Board and a presenter in accounting classes.
