Sharon Argo Hanner '65

 

The Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award is given to an exceptional alum of the College who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in their profession or service to their community.

 

This year’s recipient is Sharon Argo Hanner, Class of 1965.

 

Sharon received her B.A. from Eureka College 1965, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in History. While at Eureka, she participated in the Delta Delta Pi sorority, various music groups and was a Homecoming attendant.

 

Sharon received her M.S. at Texas A & I (Kingsville, TX) in 1980 earning a Reading Specialist degree. She served as an elementary school teacher from 1965 to 1968 in Eureka, Congerville, and Goodfield, Il. She later taught at Epiphany Episcopal Parochial School Kingsville, TX from 1977 to1981 and  Olympia Grade School in Stanford, Il, from 1982-2003.

 

Sharon has been a longtime member of Eureka Christian Church serving as an Elder, in the choir and on various committees. She is a member of P.E.O., Woodford County Home Extension, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, 20th Century Club, 4-G. She is active in Relay for Life and served as a Eureka Public Library District Trustee for 26 years.

Sharon has served on the Eureka College Alumni Board and been an alumna advisor for Delta Delta Pi Sorority. She is a member and past president of Eureka College Women’s Board and a wonderful supporter of Eureka through her time, talent and treasure.
