What a spectacular month April 2013 has been here 'Neath the Elms! The historic visit of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to campus followed by the best Alumni Weekend EVER, combined to bring a flurry of activity and opportunity to celebrate our wonderful alma mater! The formal convocation and celebration dinner for Justice O'Connor was a special experience that gave students, alumni and friends of the college unique access to a truly historic American. When you consider Eureka's rich history of abolitionist and suffragist roots, hosting the first female Supreme Court Justice was an exceedingly special event. Alumni Weekend followed three days later and provided fun and heart-warming experiences as we celebrated alumni young and old. There were bevy of academic, athletic and fine art programming that our alumni enjoyed. To listen to our 50 year Golden E graduates share stories of their college days like it was yesterday was a privilege. To laugh and hang out with alumni of all ages at the GOLD party at the bowling alley was really fun! To cheer on the runners of the Run with Reagan 5K was exciting. To sing the alma mater with Chorale alumni and students was heartwarming. And to celebrate the careers and accomplishments of students, retiring faculty and impressive alumni was altogether gratifying. Yes, April 2013 has been a great month to be an alumna of Eureka College. I encourage you to come home again soon and experience all that Eureka College has to offer. It will make you proud and warm your heart.
