Hello Fellow Alums -

Spring is here and the campus is coming back to life. Seniors have the finish line in their sites and the countdown to the last day of school has begun!

We welcomed back students returning from Spring Break with two great events on campus. The Reagan Society hosted Craig Shirley, author of "Rendevous with Destiny", and the mathematics and science division hosted the 35th annual Jackson Lecture. Both were top-notch intellectual events that served both the campus and the community.

As you can see, with spring comes a lot of wonderful activities: Greek Week, Commencement, and of course...Alumni Weekend. Click the image above to see what's planned for our special weekend on April 23-25.

Welcome Back Party

Alumni Weekend kicks off with an informal party at the backroom at Derer Lanes in Eureka. Music, snacks, and friends set the stage for a wonderful night of fun with fellow alums.

Don't miss an incredible night of food, jazz, the alumni award presentation, and remembrance.

 

Special Reunions Celebrate Milestones and Memories

This year, special groups of alumni will be gathering to celebrate significant milestones in Eureka College history.

The Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity will be celebrating 25 years of their charter, while the Delta Delta Pi sorority will gather during Alumni Weekend to commemorate 100 years of the local sorority. The 50-year Golden “E” class of 1960 will also be gathering on April 23 for a special dinner dedicated to 50 years of memories. Reagan Fellow alumni will come together for the purpose of connecting with current Reagan Fellows to foster relationships and opportunities within the group. The class of 1970 will reunite this summer to celebrate 40 years of friendships and memories.

 

Faculty Presenters Focus on Alumni and Family Histories

English Professors, Dr. Kathy Whitson and Dr. Loren Logsdon will share their stories and those of alumni on April 24 as part of Alumni Weekend festivities.

 

Retirements Will be Celebrated on April 24

Bill Davis, Professor of Theatre; Dr. Dick Sanders, Professor of History; and Lynn Wolland, Student Account Manager, have each announced their plans to retire at the end of the academic year. Their contributions to EC will be celebrated during Alumni Weekend. Please plan to attend "Breakfast with Bill", "Lunch with Lynn", and "Afternoon Tea with Dr. Sanders" during Alumni Weekend.

 

Not Just Another Campus Tour

Dr. Mike Toliver, Professor of Biology, and his wife Peg Toliver ‘84  will present “Our Campus Through the Lens of Art and Science” on April 24. The presentation will include  a morning campus nature walk as the Tolivers share some natural features of our great campus.

‘The Office’ Actress to Speak at Eureka College

Actress Angela Kinsey from the Emmy award-winning NBC-TV comedy “The Office” will speak about the show and her career at 7:30 p.m. April 15 in the Cerf Center at Eureka College. Kinsey, who plays feisty, tightly wound head of accounting Angela Martin, will be interviewed by Eureka College communication professor Amanda Frioli in an “Inside the Actors Studio” format.

‘Maroon and Golden Rule’ Service Day to Provide Help for Eureka Residents

For the second straight year, Eureka College students will hold a community service day to provide Eureka residents with spring cleanup help and child care.  The “Service: The Maroon and Golden Rule” project will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17 and will offer yard work, painting, cleaning, window-washing and child care.

A cappella Music to be Featured in Eureka College Choral Concert

The Eureka College Chorale and Chamber Singers will present their spring concert titled “Mostly A Cappella” at 4 p.m. April 18 in Becker Auditorium in the Cerf Center. The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow. Learn more>
