Hello all!
What a great time of year! The students are back, the sidewalks are bustling and the squirrels are running for cover as we begin our 156th year here 'Neath the Elms. I am especially excited to have my daughter here as one of the 300 freshmen and transfer students to come experience the wonderful education and traditions that we all love about this special place. In just a few weeks we will celebrate homecoming (September 25), and details of those festivities are below! We hope you will make plans to come back home to Eureka and reconnect with your college pals. See you on the 25th!

Dr. Logsdon’s Studs Terkel Project
Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, has captured the spirit of Eureka College history in a special project he fondly calls the “Studs Terkel Project.”
The project is a collection of alumni memories and stories which weave a rich tapestry of the Eureka College experience during the '40s, '50s, and '60s.
We are proud to share another installment.

Baseball Outings Wrap-Up
The College hosted a baseball outing in July at Cell Field. It was a beautiful night and a fun time with big league excitement with a White Sox win and a reunion of basketball players from the class of 1979!
The Peoria Chiefs event in August was wet, exciting (due to the horrible thunderstorm) and rescheduled due to a rainout. All the attendees were wonderful as we moved the food indoors and worked out alternate plans. Most returned the next week to enjoy a doubleheader against the Cedar Rapid Kernels. |

Sharon Altman '59 presents pennant that travelled into space. |
Altmans Give Special Pennant to EC
Fred and Sharon Altman recently gave a very special gift to the college-an EC pennant that flew to Space on the Space Shuttle. Their son, Scott Altman, who served as commander of the Space Shuttle, Atlantis, took the pennant with him on the NASA flight to repair the Hubble Telescope. President Arnold received the pennant and the certificate that commemorates the historic event.
