march 2011

spring @ ec

Greetings!

Can it finally be Spring? Let’s face it, it has been a really long, hard winter for many of us, and I don’t think the coming of Spring has ever been more welcome than when it follows a blizzard-filled winter. Spring also brings the homestretch for our students as they approach the finish line of second semester. The College bustles with activity as we all emerge to enjoy the beautiful campus as its rebirth begins.

I hope that Spring has found you-- wherever you may be,

The prayers of the Eureka College community go out to our forty-eight Eureka College alumni and their families living in Japan. We have heard from several alumni and their classmates that they are safe, but we ask you to let us know any news if you hear. Please keep all the people of Japan and our alumni and their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Dr. Logsdon’s Studs Terkel Project

Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, has captured the spirit of Eureka College history in a special project he fondly calls the “Studs Terkel Project.” The project is a collection of alumni memories and stories which weave a rich tapestry of the Eureka College experience during the '40s, '50s and '60s.

Dr. Logsdon’s Studs Terkel Project was recently featured in the Peoria Journal Star and will be presented during Alumni Weekend, a presentation you will not want to miss! This month’s installment will focus on three foreign students that Dr. Logsdon knew as a student at Eureka.
