fall

Thankful....

That seems to be the over-arching sentiment for this wonderful time of year. Here at Eureka we have several great events that remind us of our many blessings as members of the Eureka College Community. The Fall of the Wall event on November 9 is such a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the gift of freedom that we have in this nation. The symbol of the Berlin Wall and the stories shared by Medal of Honor recipient Hal Fritz during the ceremony serves as a great reminder that our freedom is precious and it isn’t free. The parade of flags symbolizes that many nations are “free or freer” now that the Berlin Wall has fallen.

The annual chorale campus concert was on November 13 and featured 80 singers performing a variety of works that stirred the heart strings through song. On November 16th the campus enjoyed the annual Thanksgiving celebration in the Commons with the traditional feast of turkey and all the fixings.  These events provide wonderful opportunities to gather and enjoy the blessings of our close-knit community.

Wherever you are for Thanksgiving, we hope you find yourself with family and friends and all the warmth and blessings that HOME brings. I hope that you count Eureka College among your blessings and always feel that it is your home away from home.
Blessings to you and yours,

Shellie Schwanke
