MidTerm Has Come and Gone

What a beautiful fall it has been! The trees, the balmy temperatures, the rustling leaves and beautiful sunshine have made the campus extraordinarily beautiful during this busy month of October. And busy it has been. October began with the “Best Homecoming Ever!” as overheard by an alum who has returned to campus for the event each year. The Eureka Red Devils scored a HUGE win over Westminster in front of an estimated crowd of 3000. The alumni board hosted a pre-game tailgate cookout and a post-game party at the backroom of the Chanticleer along with a very successful silent auction that brought in nearly $1500. Next year’s homecoming date will be announced in the next few weeks.

But Homecoming wasn’t the only big event the alumni office hosted during the month of October. Rocktober in Las Vegas was a huge success thanks to our generous host, Bradley Kenny ’89. Alumni also enjoyed the hospitality of Jay Hein ‘87 in late October at the Levey Mansion in Indianapolis. Alumni legacy parents enjoyed the hospitality of the alumni office during the football game on October 22. The month’s grand finale was an alumni gathering in Minneapolis for Dome Day on October 29th.  All in all it has been a fabulous month of connecting with alumni here on campus and throughout the country. Our goal is to be sure all of our alumni near and far, always feel close to their college home.

Eureka College Theater to Present  ‘Dead Man’s Cell Phone’

The Eureka College Theater Department will present the dark comedy “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” by Sarah Ruhl at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15-19 and 2 p.m. Nov. 20 in Pritchard Theatre.
The play opens with the death of a man in a quiet café and a woman at the next table who answers his incessantly ringing cell phone. The woman’s fateful act dials her deeply into the dead man’s mysterious business and his eccentric family and takes her on trips to the afterlife and the black market. Her odyssey forces her to confront her assumptions about morality, redemption and the need to connect in a technology-obsessed world, as the play explores how we memorialize the dead and how that remembering changes us.
