Greetings!

Reunions – the opportunity to reconnect, reunite, re-engage with the classmates that knew you way back when…

I have had the unique opportunity to see reunions from two perspectives recently and found that they are not for the faint of heart. They require courage for some, forgiveness for others and reflection on one's life and relationships for those who dare to return to the place and the people who have shaped them. Reunions are great occasions for celebration and thankfulness for where we have come from and who we are on this journey of life. Reunions seem to attract classmates that have an awareness of the fact that they haven't arrived at their present place in life all on their own and want to remember and appreciate the journey so far.

For those of you from the late 80's who chose to return this month, I think you came away feeling…good…good music, good food and good memories relived and new memories made. I know that I spoke with classmates that I never talked to during our college days. Now I look forward to seeing them again…at the next reunion! That is the thing about Eureka; it is a place where you are remembered and valued. Eureka is also a place that you are always welcomed with open arms. It doesn't matter if you returned with your best buddy, you will likely leave with a new friend or two. Planning this reunion with my classmates has been very rewarding, professionally and personally. Thank you Janis, Steve, Andrew, Jeff, LouAnn, RuthAnn, Mike and the rest of you who made our reunion a great event . Now, I challenge the next decade of Eureka alumni to step up, take a chance and host your reunion. You will be glad you did!

Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, has captured the spirit of Eureka College history in a special project he fondly calls the "Studs Terkel Project." The project is a collection of alumni memories and stories which weave a rich tapestry of the Eureka College experience during the '40s, '50s and '60s.

The book of these stories is available on the NEW online EC Bookstore >

Graduation Pathway

The Alumni Board has created a brick pathway on which graduates proceed to the Rinker Open Air Theatre on Commencement Day. You can purchase a brick and have it engraved with your name or organization, that of a loved one, or to commemorate the memory of a special person. Your support will help develop and support many programs at Eureka College.
