EC Homecoming Royalty

Greetings!

As I sit in my office and reflect on the first month of 2013, I am amazed at how quickly this month has gone by and astonished at all that has happened in just a few short weeks. The college has welcomed wonderful speakers, musicians and alumni to campus. Presently the alumni office is preparing to host 70 alumni for the 3rd annual alumni leadership conference. Students, alumni and alumni leadership will come together to build and strengthen connections with their alma mater. It is my hope that they will come away with pride and appreciation and, a belief that the best days and biggest accomplishments of Eureka College are yet to come. I sincerely hope that they come away feeling empowered with a desire to convey the accomplishments of this great College to their fellow alums and members of their communities. The alumni attending the conference are investing their time and giving of their talents back to Eureka College. It will be great to have them back on campus where they and all of the alumni of Eureka College are valued and appreciated.

Dr. Loren Logsdon, Professor Emeritus of English, has captured the spirit of Eureka College history in a special project he fondly calls the "Studs Terkel Project." The project is a collection of alumni memories and stories which weave a rich tapestry of the Eureka College experience during the '40s, '50s and '60s.

The book of these stories is available in the online EC Bookstore >

Studs Terkel Project to Continue

Thanks to the persistent importuning of several alumni, President Arnold and the Alumni Office have decided to resume the collection of alumni stories about the college from 1970-2000. Loren Logsdon has agreed to do the editorial duties once again, and he is aiming for a publication date of ‘Neath the Elms Part II at the end of the summer of 2015. So, alumni from 1970-2000, you may begin sending your EC stories immediately, either by e-mail to the Alumni Office at alumni@eureka.edu or by snail mail to Dr. Loren Logsdon, Humanities Division, Eureka College, 300 E. College Ave., Eureka, IL 61530-1500.

An important reminder: In order to include your stories, we must have a signed Permission to Publish form. Please send that signed form along with your stories. Below is a set of questions to give you some guidance and the Permission to Publish form. We look forward to hearing from you!
