and we have a few places to play

 

The Theatre department at Eureka College has four performance spaces to accomodate a wide variety of events:

 

  • Pritchard Theater is a flexible, 300 seat, black box theater. This is the space used for most productions and is located within Pritchard Hall, near the center of Eureka's academic halls.

  • McCallister Hall is a 300 seat performance space that has been used for such productions as The Little Red Devils improv troupe. It is ideal for cabaret settings and one person shows.

  • Becker Auditorium nested at the heart of the Cerf Center, this largest of Eureka's performance spaces seats over 400.

  • Rinker Outdoor Amphitheatre seats well-over 900, features ideal natural acoustists and a topiary, backdrop, and wings.Used most commonly now convocations and graduation ceremonies, Rinker was an interegral part of Woodford County's traditional pageantry.

Theatre Master - Bill Davis

 

Mr. Bill Davis is in his 33rd year of teaching, directing, and designing at Eureka. His teaching responsibilities include direction, dramatic literature, stage design and lighting, theatre history, introductory theatre courses, and campus-wide interdisciplinary classes. He is the 1993 recipient of the College's Helen Cleaver Distinguished Teaching Award and was awarded a grant for summer study from the National Endowment for the Humanities at the University of Iowa. One of the founders of the Division of Fine and Performing Arts and its first Chairman, he has been involved with over 150 EC productions, several of which have been showcased at Regionals of the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, for which he serves as an adjudicator. A resident of Eureka, and an avid NASCAR and railroading fan, he was elected to several terms as Alderman, serving for 8 years as Chairman of the City's Finance, Personnel, and Administration Committee.
