A total of 45 basketball student-athletes from nine different institutions qualified for the award.
The recipients were varsity members of their school’s men’s or women’s basketball squad for the Winter 2011-12 season. A double-major in special education and elementary education, Brown brought her 50-game Eureka career to a close last month. She was an All-SLIAC First Team choice in 2011-12 after averaging 18.0 points and leading the SLIAC with 9.2 rebounds per game and a .574 field goal percentage. She was also chosen for the SLIAC All-Tournament Team and was selected as Eureka’s representative on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team for the second consecutive season.
Gibson completed his second season as a member of the Eureka basketball program in 2011-12. The business major appeared in five games for the Red Devils this season and has played in 15 contests overall since making his collegiate debut at Knox on Nov. 16, 2010.
Teal joined Gibson as second-year men’s basketball players to qualify for the award. Teal came off the bench in five games in 2011-12 and has played in 22 games during his collegiate career. Teal, who also plays baseball at Eureka, is majoring in criminal justice.
