New Scoreboards Installed at Reagan Center
EUREKA, Ill. – Two new scoreboards were installed Thursday at the Reagan Center, the on-campus home for Eureka College basketball and volleyball. The scoreboards will debut during a Jan. 8 basketball doubleheader, according to an announcement from Director of Athletics Paul Bryant.
The main scoreboard, mounted on the north wall of the arena, is eight feet wide and six feet tall and feature displays for team fouls, timeouts remaining, bonus and a possession arrow in addition standard displays for the score, period and time remaining. A smaller scoreboard, featuring the time remaining and score, will be installed on the south wall. Both scoreboards, purchased from Greenville, Ill.-based Nevco, have electronic team name displays. Side panels displaying individual player point totals and fouls are slated to be installed in mid-January. The new scoreboards replace a four-sided scoreboard that hung from the ceiling.
“We love to use every opportunity we’re presented with to enhance our on-campus facilities,” Bryant said during Thursday’s installation. “The new scoreboards will make the arena in the Reagan Center a better home for our volleyball and basketball teams.”
In addition to the scoreboard installation, the arena received a new coat of black paint on several supportive beams and both shot clocks. LED lights to indicate the end of the period were also installed behind both backboards.
The Eureka men’s and women’s basketball teams will play St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders at Fontbonne (Jan. 4) and Greenville (Jan. 6) before returning home to host a SLIAC doubleheader against Westminster on Saturday, Jan. 8 beginning with the women’s game at 1 p.m. The Jan. 8 games against the Blue Jays mark Eureka’s first home games since Nov. 30.
