Reagan Center Gets New Hardwood Floor
EUREKA, Ill. – A hardwood floor has been installed at the Reagan Center, the on-campus arena for Eureka College volleyball and basketball, fourth-year EC Director of Athletics Paul Bryant announced Thursday. The surface was formerly used as a practice floor by the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves.
The portable surface features a parquet design and was installed in square pieces and painted by Clarkston, Mich.-based Game Day Athletics. The installation crew, headed by Tom Petrie, also installed and painted the Reagan Center’s previous playing surface. Several Eureka football players volunteered their time during the nine-day installation process that began on June 12. The hardwood floor was placed on top of the synthetic playing surface that was installed during the summer of 2008.
“This new floor gives Eureka College student-athletes an opportunity to play on a quality, professional-caliber surface that will minimize injuries and maximize performance,” Bryant said. “Along with the new scoreboards that were installed last winter, the new floor provides a huge upgrade for our facility.”
The first event to take place on the floor will be Taren Martin’s Girls Basketball Team Camp beginning Monday, June 27. The first official game on the floor is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 3 when the Eureka volleyball team opens the home portion of its 2011 schedule.
