Baseball Falls Twice at Berea
BEREA, Ky. – The Eureka College baseball team kicked off its four-game swing through the state of Kentucky, Wednesday afternoon, dropping a pair of decision to NAIA Berea in Berea, Ky. The Mountaineers won the opener, 7-2, before claiming a 17-6 victory in the nightcap.
Eureka (0-3) senior catcher Alex Hess (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) paced the Eureka offense in game one with an RBI double. Senior infield Aaron Tolson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian H.S.) was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and RBI in the nightcap.
Sophomore hurler John Berns (Herscher, Ill./Herscher H.S.) took the loss in the opener, while freshman Kyle Kiesewetter (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) was the pitcher of record for the Red Devils in game two.
The Red Devils will continue action in the Bluegrass State Thursday, visiting Division II Kentucky State in Frankfort, Ky. for a doubleheader at 11:30 a.m.
