Cross Country Opens Season at Illinois Intercollegiate
NORMAL, Ill. – The Eureka College cross country team opened the 2009 season Friday night, participating in the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Illinois State University in Normal, Ill.
In the women’s 5K race, freshman Rebecca Koltveit (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) led the way for the Red Devils in her first career race with a 268th place finish in a time of 25:28. She was followed by freshman classmate Shelbi Rodgers (Batavia, Ill./Batavia H.S.), who clocked in with a time of 28:02 for 296th place. Freshman Samantha Krause (Altona, Ill./ROWVA H.S.) and sophomore Samantha Peacock (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) also finished the race for EC.
Junior Nathan Pritzger (Morton, Ill.) led the men’s team in the 8K race with a time of 35:09 for 318th place, followed by senior teammate Jason List (Mason City, Ill./Illini Central H.S.) with a time of 46:16.
The Red Devils will return to action on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational at 5 p.m. Augustana will host the meet at the Credit Island Golf Course in Davenport, Iowa.
