Kim Holdenrid Named Cross Country Coach

EUREKA, Ill. – Kim Holdenrid, a 2007 graduate of Eureka College, has been named the new EC cross country coach, according to an announcement from Director of Athletics Paul Bryant on Thursday.

A four-year student-athlete at Eureka, Holdenrid was a member of the EC women’s basketball team from 2003-2007.  She appeared in 100 games for the Red Devils in four seasons, making 54 starts.  She averaged 18.5 minutes per game for her EC career, scoring 181 career points.  Holdenrid also dished out 121 career assists, including a team-best 68 during her senior season in 2006-07.

In addition to basketball, Holdenrid was a student-athletic trainer during her time at EC.  She was a Dean’s Scholar upon her arrival on campus in 2003 and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

A native of Mendota, Ill., Holdenrid graduated from Mendota Township High School in 2003.  She was a three-sport athlete for the Trojans, participating in cross country, basketball and track.

“I am always thrilled when a Eureka College graduate decides to come back and become a part of our athletics coaching staff,” Bryant said.  “Kim is a very hard worker and I am confident she will do an excellent job coaching our runners.”

Holdenrid works as part of an agency staff for State Farm Insurance in Eureka.  She also serves as clerk for the Eureka-Goodfield Fire Department.

With one event already in the books for the 2009 season, the Red Devils will return to competition on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational.  Augustana will host the event at the Credit Island Golf Course in Davenport, Iowa.
