PEORIA, Ill. – Eureka College sophomores Zach Ahrends (Graymont, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) and Amanda Schreck (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville H.S.) each recorded the top time for the Red Devils in their respective races, leading the cross country team at the eighth annual Bradley Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill.

Ahrends clocked in with an 8K time of 28:30, finishing ahead of 16 runners from NCAA Division I schools.  Senior Nathan Pritzker (Morton, Ill.) ran the course in 32:09, while senior Jon Helgeson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) finished in 33:06 to round out Eureka’s top-three performers.

Schreck led all Eureka women’s runners with a 6K time of 27:26.  Next for the Red Devils was senior Meghan Campbell (Princeton, Ill./Olive Branch H.S.) in 30:18 and junior Shelbi Rodgers (Batavia, Ill./Batavia H.S.) with a time of 31:56.

The women’s individual champion was Krista Deceault of Illinois State.  Missouri claimed the team championship.  Butler’s Ross Clarke won the men’s race, while Drake won the men’s team title.

Friday’s event, which featured more than 20 NCAA Division I teams, was hosted at Peoria’s Newman Golf Course.  Eureka will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship at the Hillsboro Country Club in Hillsboro, Ill.
