Coach's Cornerweek Seven
October 16, 2007
Tough game in Red Devil land. Both the offense and defense did not realize that there was a game to be played until we woke up in the second half. First half was Greenville 40 and Eureka 0. The second half was Greenville 14 and Eureka 14. I would like to say that the change after halftime was due to outstanding halftime adjustments by the coaching staff. The truth is that the players realized they had nothing to lose and they came out of their shells a little bit. Young men, by nature, are very resilient. They can cope with both highs and lows. Many of our players are guarded against the big disappointments. Our coaching staff is trying to convince them that in order to reach their full potential they have to sell out starting at the first whistle. These boys (especially the older guys) have been through a lot of tough games. Everyone who was at our home game against Concordia of Chicago knows that we are no longer the team of the past. The hardest part is convincing our boys of that fact. My spirits were brightened after the game when I saw all the family and friends outside of our locker room. Parents helping with meals, parents encouraging their son, and most importantly parents and family members who are involved. We need your help. You know what your son is capable of accomplishing. Encourage them! Alumni who are reading, shoot me an email and I will forward it to a player that you would like to encourage.
We have a big home game this week with Benedictine. They are a tough team with a better record than Greenville. The only way we can get it done........is together! The strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack. Jump on the bandwagon and let's keep pressing for that next big win!
Parents--Please send any digital pictures you have of our games to me over email. I would love to put them up on the website.
