Coach's Cornerweek four
September 26, 2007
When I was about 12 years old I would complain to my Dad about having aches and pains. He explained to me that those were called "growing pains". He continued by telling me that growing pains are a natural part of maturing. "It may hurt a little now, but it means that you are getting bigger and stronger." he would say. Last Saturday we faced a very good team that caused us to take stock of what we are doing as a collective. Concordia of Wisconsin caused us pain......it is our responsibility to make sure it is "growing pains" and not just pain.
Up to this point we have had a good week of practice. We have upped the competition and we have upped the intensity. I believe that there are many young men on this team that want to turn the corner. It is our job as coaches to figure out who the guys are that do not want to take the necessary steps to get over the hump.
The team is glad to be back home this week facing Concordia of Chicago. They are a tough team who is coming off of a big win last week. We hope to see everyone out for kickoff at 1pm. After those 80 degree days it is finally feeling like football weather!
Please keep checking the Coach's Corner this year and if you have any questions let me know. I can be reached at msmiley@eureka.edu.
