Nick Lindsey's passing yardage per game has increased each week this season, reaching 134.2 this week.

Matt Knake has already eclipsed his tackle total from 2006. He ranks 7th in the IBFC with 7.2 tackles per game.

Lindsey, Knake receive IBFC weekly accolades

Sophomores Nick Lindsey (Homer, Ill./Heritage) and Matt Knake (Freeburg, Ill./HS) received Player of the Week accolades from the Illini-Badger Football Conference for the efforts in week five as Eureka College defeated Concordia University Chicago 28-21 last Saturday.

Lindsey won the league's Offensive Player of the Week award after leading the Red Devils (1-3, 1-2 IBFC) to 424 yards on 96 plays from the quarterback position. In addition to rushing for a game-high 85 yards on 19 carries, he was accurate in the passing game as well, connecting on 19 of his 32 attempts for 208 yards.

Lindsey helped EC build a 20-7 halftime lead with touchdown runs of 10 and 17 yards before tossing a go-ahead 25 yard scoring strike to Brad Polanin with 5:23 remaining. The offensive captain closed the day by running in a
two-point conversion. Eureka was perfect on four fourth down conversions, with Lindsey rushing for two first downs and throwing for the other two. For the season, Lindsey ranks second in the IBFC with 134.2 passing yards per game.

Knake was a key contributor to the EC defensive effort from his position at linebacker. He led Eureka with nine total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. He also recorded a half sack. The Red Devils allowed Concordia a time of possession of just 21:25 in the 60 minute affair.

Knake's interception, the fourth of the day for EC, with 7:35 to play in the final quarter set up Eureka's game winning drive at midfield. For the season, Knake leads EC with 29 tackles and four tackles for loss. He shared Defensive Player of the Week honors with Dave Gesiakowski of Aurora University.

The Red Devils will be on the road for their next two contests. They play next at Lakeland College Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1:00 pm.
