Dombrowski receives SLIAC Player of the Week accolades
Eureka College linebacker Tim Dombrowski (Lansing, Ill./T.F. South) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week by the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference following the Red Devils' 47-19 victory over Principia College.
Dombrowski was a fixture in the Principia backfield all game long. The senior captain led the team with nine tackles (seven solo, two assisted) and 3.5 tackles for loss. Dombrowski caused a loss total loss of 23 yards, and was one of seven Red Devils (3-3, 2-2 SLIAC) to record a sack in the game. His sack helped stop a Principia drive on downs in the Eureka five yard line. The Red Devils scored on a 98-yard pass play three plays later.
As a team, EC had more sacks than in any game played since 1999 (eight) and forced four turnovers. Dombrowski ranks second on the team in sacks (2), tackles (41) and tackles for loss (7.5) on the season. He ranks fifth in the SLIAC in tackles for loss, seventh in tackles and 10th in sacks. A mainstay in the Red Devils defensive lineup over the last four seasons, Dombrowski has recorded at least five tackles in each of his last 10 games dating back to last season.
Eureka returns home this week to take on MacMurray College on Homecoming Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 pm.
