Schopp leads EC with first round 79 at DuHawk Invite

ASBURY, IOWA — T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./HS) carded his best round of the season in the first round on the DuHawk Spring Invitational hosted by Loras College.  Eureka College shot a team score of 679 (329-350)
to tie with Carroll College for 17th out of 22 squads competing in the two-round tournament.

Schopp shot a season-low 79 to rank in 40th place out of a total of 110 golfers after the opening round.  He came back with a solid 82 to move up six spots to 34th as playing conditions worsened in day two.  Schopp was just three strokes away from reaching the top 20.

Eureka's Matt Morse (Magnolia, Ill./Fieldcrest) was one of just 19 players to shoot a lower score in round two as he improved 15 spots to finish with a total score of 165 (83-82) in a tie for 54th.  Dan Cameron (Byron, Ill./HS) was next for EC with a 175 (83-92).

The Red Devils will next tee it up in the Millikin University Big Blue Classic.  The two-day tournament is set to begin Friday, April 11.
