Eureka cards season-best score, 2nd round surge
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Eureka golf team passed two teams in the second round to card a 10th place finish at the Gorlok Spring Invitational hosted by Webster University. The Red Devils shot a 338, which ranked as the eighth best score out of 13 teams on the final day of the event.
Leading the way for EC was Matt Morse (Magnolia, Ill./Fieldcrest), who recorded his low score of the spring with a 76 in the opening round, then gained 11 spots the next day with an 82 to finish in a tie for 26th. Brady Wildenradt (Delavan, Ill./HS) went from 61st after the first round to a tie for 40th as he improved on his first round score by one to shoot an 81. Wildenradt was one of only eight golfers out of a total of 82 to post a lower score in the second round than on day one.
Dan Cameron (Byron, Ill./HS) finished in a tie for 55th with a 36-hole score of 167 (82-85). His 82 in the first round was part of a 321 team score for Eureka, the lowest of the spring thus far.
The EC golfers are next slated to compete in the DuHawk Spring Invitational hosted by Loras College Sunday and Monday, April 6-7.
