EC 3 shots out of 4th after 2 rounds of SLIAC Championship

 

Day One Recap

 

CARLYLE, Ill — Eureka is in sixth place after the first day of the SLIAC Championship held at the 6,440 yard, par 72 layout at Governor's Run Golf Course.  Teams golfed two 18-hole rounds on day one of the tournament.  One 18-hole round remains to be played.

 

The Red Devils are just three strokes out of fourth place after two rounds.  Eureka carded a team score of 340 in the opening round, followed by a 337 in round two for a 677 total.  Fontbonne sits in fifth place at 675 and Westminster is in fourth a 674.

 

Individually, Dan Cameron (Byron, Ill./HS) fired an 81 in the first round to tie for seventh place.  He closed with an 86, moving him to a tie for 16th after 36 holes.  He will enter the final round just three shots out of the top 10.

 

T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./HS), who carded the lowest second round for EC with an 81, is in 18th with a 36-hole total of 169 (88-81).  Brady Wildenradt (Delavan, Ill./HS) and Matt Morse (Magnolia, Ill./Fieldcrest) are next for EC tied for 22nd at 172.  Kyle Todd (Oakford, Ill./PORTA) is one shot behind them at 173.

 

Maryville leads the event with a team total of 630.  Webster is in close pursuit at 636.  Blackburn is in third at 656.
