Eureka Golf Lands Two on All-SLIAC Second Team

SLIAC Championship Results

STAUNTON, Ill. – Eureka College senior Joe Pioletti (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) and junior T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./LeRoy H.S.) have each been named to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team after leading the Red Devils to a fifth place finish at the SLIAC Championship at Timber Lakes Golf Course earlier this week.  Additionally, Eureka earned the SLIAC’s annual Men’s Golf Sportsmanship Award, voted on by league coaches and players.

Schopp led the Red Devils during the two-day conference tournament, firing a three-round score of 245 to finish in ninth place.  His second-round 76 was the best round of the week for the Red Devils.  Only four other players in the 35-player field shot a better round than Schopp during the tournament.

Playing in his final collegiate tournament, Pioletti finished just three shots behind Schopp with a 248 for 10th place overall.  Pioletti also played his best during the tournament’s middle round on Monday with a career-low 78.

Eureka finished fifth as a team during the tournament with a three-round score of 1039.  Blackburn claimed the team title for the second time in school history, shooting a 927 for a 29-stroke win over runner-up Spalding.
