Eureka Golf Opens Season at Millikin Spring Opener
FORSYTH, Ill. – Eureka College senior T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./LeRoy H.S.) fired a two-round score of 163, including a team-best individual round of 77 on Friday, finishing in a tie for 21st place and pacing the Red Devils at the Millikin Spring Opener at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth, Ill.
Host Millikin won the event with a two-day score of 617, led by medalist Wes Hillen with a score of 149. Lindenwood’s Jake Smock was second overall after shooting a 153.
The event was originally scheduled to be played at Oak Terrace Golf Course in Pana, Ill., but Millikin scheduled the change earlier this week when recent rains and an unfavorable forecast made it uncertain that Oak Terrace course would be ready for the event.
Eureka will return to action Friday, March 25 at the Prairie Fire Classic hosted by Knox at Soangetaha Country Club in Galesburg, Ill.
