Golf Begins Season at Millikin Spring Opener
DECATUR, Ill. – The Eureka College golf team kicked off its 2012 season, earning an 11th place finish in the Millikin Spring Opener on Friday at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth, Ill. and Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course in Decatur, Ill. Pete Moyemont (Dwight, Ill./Dwight H.S.) paced the Red Devils with a two-day score of 185 for a 48th place finish.
Moyemont’s 90 on Friday at Hickory Point proved to be Eureka’s best round of the tournament.
Calumet shot a two-round team score of 613 on the shoulders of medalist Nick Stasil (147) to win the team title. Host Millikin placed third and St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Blackburn finished 10th.
The Red Devils will return to action on Friday, April 6 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Ill.
