Golf Competes at McNaughton Memorial Invitational
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Playing in a tournament for the second time in four days, the Eureka College golf team earned a 12th-place team finish as the McNaughton Memorial Invitational hosted by Illinois College, Monday at the Jacksonville Country Club in Jacksonville, Ill. Freshman Ethan McPherson (Fairbury, Ill./Prairie Central H.S.) paced the Red Devils with a 48th-place finish.
McPherson finished the round with a score 86. He was closely followed by sophomore Pete Moyemont (Dwight, Ill./Dwight H.S.) with an 89 for 53rd place.
Monmouth fired a team score of 300 to win the team title by five shots over runner-up NJCAA Illinois Central. Quenten Hooker of Illinois Central won the individual crown with a one-over-par 73.
Eureka will now turn its attention to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship beginning Monday, April 23 at Forest Park Golf Club in St. Louis, Mo.
