Schopp Paces Eureka Golf at Red Tail Run
DECATUR, Ill. – For the third consecutive tournament, senior T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./LeRoy H.S.) led the Eureka College golf team, this time shooting a two-round score of 158 for a 27th place finish at the Millikin Big Blue Classic at Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur, Ill.
Schopp’s 78 on Saturday was the Red Devils’ best round of the two-day event. His tie for 27th place out of 81 participants that finished the 36-hole event marked the first time this spring a Eureka golfer has place in the top-third of an event.
Millikin won the team title with a final score of 575 in its own event, led by a 140 from medalist Wes Hillen. St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Webster finished third with a score of 617.
The Red Devils will have less than 48 hours off before returning to the course on Monday at the John McNaughton Memorial Classic at the Jacksonville Country Club in Jacksonville, Ill.
