Schopp Places Fourth in Season finale
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College senior T.J. Schopp (LeRoy, Ill./LeRoy H.S.) saved his best effort of the 2011 season for last, firing a two-over par 74 to earn a fourth place finish in his last collegiate golf tournament and leading the Eureka golf team at the Illinois College Invite at the Links of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Ill.
Schopp’s 36 on the front-nine trailed only Millikin’s Brandon Weisenborn for the best start of the tournament. Schopp eventually shot a 38 on the back-nine for a 74, finishing just four shots behind medalist Ben Olson of Monmouth.
Eureka freshman Jake Cagle (Fisher, Ill./Fisher H.S.) was next for Eureka, finishing in a tie for 31st place after carding an 88.
Prior to the IC Invite being added to the schedule this week, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday in St. Louis was originally the last scheduled tournament on the Eureka schedule.
