Josh Wagner Named SLIAC Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College senior forward Josh Wagner (Roanoke, Ill./Roanoke-Benson H.S./Carl Sandburg) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office late Monday night. Wagner scored 18 points and gathered 15 rebounds in Eureka’s SLIAC victory over Fontbonne on Saturday.
Wagner’s performance marked the fifth double-double of his three-year career and the second double-double against the Griffins this season. Wagner currently leads the SLIAC with 8.7 rebounds per game, ranks seventh with 0.8 blocks per game and ranks 15th in scoring at 10.3 points per game. He is the first Eureka men’s basketball player to receive the weekly honor from the conference since Michael Zasada earned the award on Feb. 22, 2010.
Wagner and the Red Devils will return to action Wednesday at Lincoln Christian at 7 p.m., Eureka’s final non-conference game of the season. Eureka will resume SLIAC play this Saturday at Principia at 3 p.m. in Elsah, Ill.
