UIS Deals Men's Basketball 95-52 Loss
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Eureka College junior guard Austin Nicholas (Brownsburg, Ind./Manitou Springs H.S./Lamar) scored a career-high 11 points and was a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, but Division II Illinois-Springfield used a balanced offensive attack in a 95-52 triumph over the Red Devils, Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Ill.
Nicholas was one of 10 Eureka players to play at least 12 minutes in the Red Devils’ second game against an NCAA Division II opponent this season. Senior forward Josh Wagner (Roanoke, Ill./Roanoke-Benson H.S./Carl Sandburg) matched Nicholas with 11 points and also had a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Blake Chapman (Serena, Ill./Serena H.S.) had five assists.
UIS senior guard Brandon Farmer scored a game-high 16 points on 6-for-6 shooting from the field. Michael Fakuade had the game’s only double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Prairie Stars scored in double-figures.
Eureka will take a break for the holidays before returning to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action against Fontbonne on Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. in Clayton, Mo.
