Millikin match leaves Red Devils feeling Blue
Boxscore
EUREKA — Millikin University topped Eureka College 6-0 in men's soccer Wednesday, ending the Red Devils hopes of back-to-back victories.
The Big Blue (4-1) put a trio of shots in the back of the net over a span of 5:34 on the clock en route to a 4-0 halftime cushion. Millikin again scored in the 54th and 58th minutes for a 6-0 lead. The final 32:57 of the match was scoreless.
David Crady's (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) shot on goal in the second half was Eureka's (1-4) best chance at getting on the board. He raced behind the Millkin defense only to have the goalkeeper slide in to deflect the ball off his foot.
Justin Horrer (Hopedale, Ill./Olympia) recorded 18 saves and a .711 save percentage, which ranks as his highest of the season through five games.
The EC men will play just their second road match of the season Saturday, Sept. 13 at Elmhurst College. It will be the second game of a doubleheader starting at 5:00 pm. The women's match up is set for 3:00 pm
