Box Score

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Greenville sophomore forward David Dunlop scored three goals, including two strikes in the first 12 minutes of the game, leading the Panthers to an 8-1 victory over the Eureka College men’s soccer team, Saturday afternoon in Greenville, Ill.  The game was Eureka’s first conference game of the season.

Dunlop scored on an assist from Matt Reeb in the 10th minute before scoring again just 75 seconds later to put the defending SLIAC tournament champions in front 2-0.  Cobi Allen added an unassisted goal in the 38th minute to give the hosts a 3-0 lead heading into intermission.

Greenville (6-4-0, 1-0-0 SLIAC) stretched its lead to 4-0 on Dunlop’s third goal of the game early in the second half before Reeb added back-to-back strikes in a span of 4-minutes, 35-seconds midway through the frame for a 6-0 advantage.  Andy Gibb-Clark and David Gregornik also scored for Greenville.

Eureka (2-7-0, 0-1-0 SLIAC) junior Serkan Bakirdan (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S.) ended Greenville’s shutout bid when he scored an unassisted goal in the final minute of the game.  Bakirdan’s tally was his eighth of the season, trailing only senior Brian O’Malley (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.) for the team lead.

The Red Devils will return to action Tuesday afternoon at MacMurray.  The SLIAC contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ill.
