Webster Blanks Eureka, 8-0
FENTON, Mo. – Webster midfielder Andy Rudroff and forward Bryce Johnson scored two goals apiece, leading the host Gorloks to an 8-0 SLIAC victory over the Eureka College men’s soccer team, Thursday afternoon in Fenton, Mo.
Matt Mantia got Webster on the board with his first goal of the season in the fifth minute of the match. Mike Politte added another strike before Rudroff scored back-to-back tallies late in the first half. Johnson scored both of his goals during a five-minute span midway through the second half.
Eureka senior Brian O’Malley (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame H.S.) put two shots on goal, but both shots were stopped by Webster goalkeeper Pete Mothe. The hosts enjoyed a 24-4 advantage in shots and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The two squads played only 70 minutes due to inclement weather in the St. Louis area. Thursday’s match was rescheduled after the originally scheduled match on Oct. 10 was rained out.
The Red Devils will close the regular season this Saturday at Fontbonne at 4 p.m.
