Eureka Stopped at Principia, 9-0
ELSAH, Ill. – The Eureka College men’s tennis team played on the road for the first time during the 2011 season Thursday afternoon, losing a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match by the score of 9-0 at Principia in Elsah, Ill.
The Panthers swept each of the singles contests in straight sets. Eureka senior Aaron Phelan (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) was the Red Devils’ top performer in singles play, but ultimately dropped his No. 2 singles match to Brian Wold.
The Red Devils will continue SLIAC play on Sunday, traveling to St. Louis for league matches versus Westminster (1 p.m.) and Webster (4 p.m.).
