Fontbonne Stops Eureka in Opener, 9-0
EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College men’s tennis team opened its 2011 season Sunday afternoon, dropping a 9-0 decision to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Fontbonne in Eureka, Ill.
Eureka junior Jon Helgeson (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) turned the best singles effort of the day for the Red Devils, dropping his match at No. 5 to Fontbonne’s Toan Vu, 6-3, 6-2. Each of the Griffins’ singles victories came in straight sets.
The Red Devils will be back in action when they host Carroll (9 a.m.) and Ashford (3 p.m.) on Monday, March 21 in Eureka.
