Boxscores:

Game 1 | Game 2

Eureka dropped a pair of 3-2 decisions on the road Wednesday to Greenville College in the Red Devils most recent action on the diamond.  Eureka twice rallied from 2-0 deficits to tie the each game only to give up a late tally to the Panthers.

The highlight of the day for the Maroon and Gold (1-5) came in the top of the sixth when senior Natalie Lardi (S. Wilmington, Ill./Gardner-S. Wilmington) smacked her first career home run to tie the game at 2-2.  Cathy Kalnicky (Bolingbrook, Ill./Plainfield), who led off the inning with a single scored on the play.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh.  After the first two batter had been retired, Greenville (2-2) strung a single and a double together win plate the game-winning run.

Abby Segal (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) tossed her third solid game in as many outings, allowing only one earned run on six hits in six and two-thirds innings.  She struck out six and walked three.  Eight different Red Devils recorded a hit, but EC struggled to string the safeties together.

Kalnicky and Lardi provided late heroics in game two as well as both knocked in a run in a two-run sixth inning for Eureka.  Both hits came with two outs.  However, Greenville had three consecutive singles with one out in the bottom of the inning to score the go-ahead run.

Both sides recorded five hits - all of singles - and two walks.  Kelsey Brandt (Morton, Ill./HS) struck out four
in six innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Combined in the two games, Nicole Ropp (Minonk, Ill./Fieldcrest) led EC with three hits in six at bats. Kalnicky and Lardy combined for four hits, three runs and four runs batted in.  All six games Eureka has played so far this season have been decided by two runs or less.
