Eureka Softball Splits at SLIAC Tournament
ST. ANN, Mo. -- The Eureka College softball team split a pair of games on the opening night of the 2010 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at ABC Park in St. Ann, Mo. The Red Devils dropped the opener to Fontbonne, 10-0, before recovering to rout Greenville, 13-5, in the losers' bracket.
Sophomores Allie Trainer (Manito, Ill./Midwest Central H.S.) and Sarah Jesse (Mackinaw, Ill./Bloomington H.S.) each smashed home runs in the victory over Greenville. Jesse picked up the win in the circle for Eureka, who improved to 13-20 on the season.
The Red Devils will play top-seeded Webster in an elimination game Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that contest will play Fontbonne at 8:30 p.m. If Eureka or Webster defeats Fontbonne at 8:30 p.m., a second and decisive championship game will be played Saturday night at a time yet to be determined.
