Jill Doty Named SLIAC Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College senior third baseman Jill Doty (Metamora, Ill./Metamora H.S./Illinois Central) has been chosen as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week, the league announced late Monday night. Doty helped the Red Devils to a pair of conference wins last week.
Doty went 3-for-7 at the plate for a .429 batting average in three games played last week. She had five RBI, one double, one triple and scored three runs, as the Red Devils went 2-1 in conference play to lock up their first-ever berth in the SLIAC Tournament. She had a career day in Eureka’s 12-0 win versus Principia last Thursday, going 2-for-3 with her first career triple and a career-high five RBI. In game one of the doubleheader, Doty scored the winning run in Eureka’s 3-2 walk-off victory
Eureka (11-18, 9-6 SLIAC) will close the regular season Tuesday afternoon at home with a 3 p.m. non-conference doubleheader against Knox. The Red Devils are slated to open the SLIAC Tournament on Thursday, May 5 at ABC Park in St. Ann, Mo.
