EC wraps up season at Liberal Arts Championships
ELSAH, IL — The Eureka College swim team had individuals qualify for the finals on 11 occasions and set a total of 13 personal bests at the Liberal Arts Championships last. The three-day event hosted by Principia College concluded the Red Devils' season.
Kelsey Hale (Hood River, Ore./Valley) took fifth place in the women's 200 yard butterfly for Eureka's highest finish at the championships. She also qualified for the finals in the 100 butterfly, taking seventh, and had a personal best time in the 200 individual medley.
Alyssa Wetterauer (Washington, Ill./HS) made the finals in the women's 100 and 200 yard breaststroke races, while setting personal low times in three events. Meaghan Burger (Palos Heights, Ill./Stagg) posted season best times in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.
On the men's side, Blair Steffens (Pontiac, Ill./HS) led EC with a 12th place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a personal best time of 1:20.26. Randy Dunn (Morton, Ill./HS) set four personal low times, while qualifying for the finals in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke.
Aaron Phelan (Eureka, Ill./HS) had season best times in the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke, and John Isom (Coon Rapids, Minn./HS) reached the finals in the 100 breaststroke.
