Red Devils Close Season at Liberal Arts Championships
ELSAH, Ill. – Eureka College sophomore Cody Leach (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) earned a pair of top-3 finishes in diving events, leading the Red Devils at the 2012 Liberal Arts Championships hosted by Principia in Elsah, Ill. The three-day event marked the final event of the 2011-12 season for the Red Devils.
Leach earned a score of 379.55 in the preliminaries of the 1-meter diving event to earn one of eight berths in the finals. His score of 399.50 in the finals was good enough for third place. Colin Sharpe of Lindenwood (Mo.) won the event. Leach also placed third in the preliminaries and finals of 3-meter diving. His final score was 377.10.
Sophomore Kate West (Louisville, Ky./Assumption H.S.) was the top EC women’s swimmer at the event. West placed 28th out of 54 swimmers in the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle. She also finished 26th in the 100-yard freestyle preliminaries, clocking in 1:00.68.
