SLIAC tabs Fisher as Player of the Week for 3rd time
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Nicole Fisher (Canton, Ill./HS) has picked up her third Women's Basketball Player of the Week award of the season from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. This time, for the week of February 11-17. It also marks her sixth such honor over the last two seasons.
The 5-10 senior forward averaged 20.5 points and 20 rebounds in two games played last week. She tallied 11 points and 21 boards to go with two assists and two blocked shots in the Red Devils' 65-59 victory over MacMurray on Feb. 13. Then on Saturday, she recorded 30 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in a 61-55 loss to Westminster. It was her second career game 30+ point game after putting in 32 versus Knox Nov. 21, 2006.
Fisher set the EC school record for rebounds in a season against MacMurray. She now has 292 for an average of 13.3 per game, which puts her fifth in the nation in the latest NCAA Division III rankings. She is shooting 52.4 percent from the field for an average of 17.4 points per game. In SLIAC play, Fisher leads the conference in rebounding, while ranking second in scoring and third in field goal percentage. She has recorded a double-double in 16 out of 22 games this season.
The Red Devils finish SLIAC play this week with road games at Greenville College Wednesday, Feb. 20 and at Webster University Saturday, Feb. 23.
