Caty Eeten Named SLIAC Player of the Week
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – For the fourth time this season and fifth time of her collegiate career, Eureka College sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) has been selected as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday night. Eeten averaged 30.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in two conference victories last week.
Eeten started the week with a 28-point effort in Eureka’s 81-62 league win over Webster last Wednesday at the Reagan Center. She also added seven rebounds, four steals and made all 12 of her free throws against the Gorloks. In Saturday’s victory at Fontbonne, the first for Eureka in six tries over the Griffins in St. Louis since joining the SLIAC, Eeten poured in a game-high 32 points to go along with seven boards. Eeten shot 63 percent (20-for-32) from the field in the two games and made 20 of her 21 free throw attempts.
The scoring spree bumped Eeten’s season average to 26.6 points per game. Eureka has now claimed five SLIAC Player of the Week awards this season.
Eeten and the Red Devils (11-3, 5-2 SLIAC) will continue their busy stretch of SLIAC games Wednesday in a 6 p.m. start at Blackburn in Carlinville, Ill.
