Caty Eeten Repeats as SLIAC Player of the Week
CHESTERFIELD, Mo. – Eureka College sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) has repeated as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league on Monday night. Eeten compiled 35 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals in Eureka’s 80-57 non-conference victory at Concordia (Ill.) last Tuesday.
The weekly award is Eeten’s third in a row from the conference dating back to the final week of the 2010-11 regular season. Eeten went 11-for-18 from the field and 12-for-14 from the free throw line in Tuesday’s win over the Cougars. The 23-point victory, which helped Eureka to its first 3-0 start on record, was the Red Devils’ largest margin of victory over an NCAA Division III opponent in more than two years.
Through three games, Eeten is leading the SLIAC with 36.7 points per game, a .655 field goal percentage and 33 free throws made. She also ranks second among league players with 11.0 rebounds per contest and 19 assists.
Eureka will open the 16-game St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday night at the Reagan Center against Greenville. Tip-off against the Panthers is set for 6 p.m.
